Members stage approximately 150,000 service projects and raise nearly $100 million annually to support children and their communities.  During 2024, the Kiwanis Club of West Valley completed 21 service projects totaling 1,274 volunteer hours.  Our contribution benefited 1,600 youth in our community.  Examples of our service include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\">West Valley Community Fair Food Service- Our Signature Project Supporting Youth<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1955, our annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kiwanis.org\/2024-signature-project-contest-winners\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.kiwanis.org\/2024-signature-project-contest-winners\/\">signature service project<\/a> has been dedicated to preparing and serving meals at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WestValleyFair\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WestValleyFair\/\">West Valley Community Fair<\/a>. A highlight of the three-day event includes a West Valley Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast and parade. All money raised during the annual three-day event is donated to the West Valley Fair Board to support future fairs. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WestValleyFair\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WestValleyFair\/\">West Valley Community Fair <\/a>Food Service and Community Pancake Breakfast<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kiwanis Children&#8217;s Cancer Research<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We are dedicated to raising money to fund fellowships at Seattle Children\u2019s Hospital through our Kiwanis Children&#8217;s Cancer Fellowship Program (KCCP).&nbsp; The Fellowship Program is for recently graduated doctors, who dedicate three years specializing in pediatric hematology\/oncology at Seattle Children\u2019s Hospital.&nbsp;Are you interested in helping us support the KCCP?&nbsp;<a href=\"membership@wvkiwanis.com\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"membership@wvkiwanis.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Contact us<\/a>&nbsp;to learn more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Scholarships and Grants<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>West Valley High School Key Club Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Kiwanis Club raises funds for a <a aria-label=\"Key Club (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.keyclub.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Key Club<\/a> senior post-secondary education scholarship each year through the <a href=\"https:\/\/westvalley-yakima.dollarsforscholars.org\/index.php?section=chapterWebsite&amp;action=main&amp;fwID=265\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/westvalley-yakima.dollarsforscholars.org\/index.php?section=chapterWebsite&amp;action=main&amp;fwID=265\">West Valley Dollars for Scholars Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yakima Valley College Foundation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>West Valley Kiwanis funds an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yvcc.edu\/foundation\/scholarships.php\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.yvcc.edu\/foundation\/scholarships.php\">endowed scholarship<\/a> to a full-time (12 credits) student enrolled at Yakima Valley College seeking an AA degree. The student must demonstrate financial need and academic achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Children&#8217;s Foundation <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We provide financial support to a foundation that gives grants to Kiwanis Clubs for community improvement. The foundation&#8217;s grant funding has supported projects such as Randle Park and Camp Prime Time.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Club Funded Donations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Nonprofit community organizations serving children may apply to receive special West Valley Kiwanis Club-funded grants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Service Leadership Clubs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Our Kiwanis club supports service projects, helps facilitate meetings, and provides support and encouragement for several service leadership programs.   Click the links below to learn about the mission and activities of these important groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>West Valley School District-Wide Hollow Elementary School (Grade 5) &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kiwaniskids.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.kiwaniskids.org\/\">K Kids Club<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>West Valley School District Middle-Level Campus (6-8) &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.buildersclub.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.buildersclub.org\/\">Builders Club<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>West Valley High School (9-12) &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.keyclub.org\/about\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.keyclub.org\/about\/\">Key Club<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yakima Valley Aktion Club- We co-sponsor this service club for adults with disabilities with the Yakima and Kamiakin Kiwanis Clubs. Together we provide treats, educational programs, and encouragement to members of the only club in the region serving adults with disabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>West Valley Community Park<\/strong> <strong>Cleanup<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year, Kiwanis clubs worldwide participate in a day of service. Our annual <a href=\"https:\/\/yakimaparks.com\/parks\/west-valley-park\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/yakimaparks.com\/parks\/west-valley-park\/\">West Valley Community Park<\/a> clean-up project, supported by the Yakima Parks Department, personnel, service leadership students, and community volunteers helps maintain a valued asset in our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Camp Prime Time<\/strong> <strong>Sponsorship<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1986, <a href=\"https:\/\/campprimetime.org\/camp-news\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/campprimetime.org\/camp-news\/\">Camp Prime Time <\/a>has been the only Camp in Washington State where disabled or seriously\/terminally ill children, and their families, can enjoy the beauty of Clear Lake in the Cascade Mountains just west of Naches, WA. It provides a camping experience in the great outdoors where families can enjoy themselves in a supportive atmosphere at no cost to the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year we volunteer and donate funds to support Camp development and funding activities. Examples include:  West Valley Kiwanis Cabin sponsorship and maintenance, Christmas tree recycling, meal preparation and service<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Yakima Salvation Army<\/strong> <strong>Red Kettle Bell Ringing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&nbsp;partner annually with the <a href=\"https:\/\/yakima.salvationarmy.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/yakima.salvationarmy.org\/\">Yakima Salvation Army<\/a>, Key Club, Builders Club, and K Kids Club members to &#8220;ring bells&#8221; for donations to meet needs in our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Thanksgiving and Christmas Season Food Drives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The club supports our sponsored West Valley School District Service Leadership Programs, which collect nonperishable food donations for local food banks. Examples of nonprofit organizations receiving donations include Rod&#8217;s House, Triumph Services, Yakima Salvation Army, RAM Landing, and St. Vincent&#8217;s Food Pantry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yakima Valley Crime Stoppers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year, we serve meals for volunteers for the &#8220;Canyon for a Day&#8221;&nbsp;Bike ride sponsored by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yakima.crimestoppersweb.com\/sitemenu.aspx?P=custom&amp;D=6&amp;ID=700\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.yakima.crimestoppersweb.com\/sitemenu.aspx?P=custom&amp;D=6&amp;ID=700\">Yakima Valley Crime Stoppers<\/a>.&nbsp; Key Club members help us, too!&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/photos.app.goo.gl\/9F24uzd45pnM8YE98\"><strong>Click here<\/strong><\/a> for photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recycling Project <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We manage two newspaper recycling bins.&nbsp;The bins are located in the parking lots at Tieton Village (37th and Tieton Drive) and Yakima Battery (3402 Fruitvale Blvd.). We accept newsprint, magazines, and non-corrugated cardboard.
